If you have followed the Ruta de la Paz, you have reached the end of the line to the town of Perquin. Your first stop should be the tourist center of PRODETUR, located by the park. Perquin is home to the Museo de la Revolucion Salvadoreno (The Revolutionary Museum). The museum is well organized with displays covering the civil war period. The exhibits are displayed in Spanish and English. Guided tours are in Spanish only. After a long drive to the Northern boundaries of El Salvador, Hotel Perkin Lenca offers a delightful mountain setting.

Perquin is surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes. The Sapo River Protected Natural Area covers some 14,000 acres. It is home to over 72 species of birds, otters, coyotes, pumas, and butterflies. There a wide variety of activities to choose from such as rock rappelling, cave exploration, birdwatching, horseback riding, or relaxing in a natural swimming hole fed by cascading waterfalls.
